FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my Nature's Generator not being charged when I connect the power cord to the Nature's Generator?
If you connect the power cord from the wall to the AC input port of Nature's Generator and the AC input LED and main LCD screen do not light up, it’s likely because the battery is too low to recharge. Use the jumpstart cable or jumpstart cable Elite to jump start the battery by connecting the jumpstart cable to the expansion port, clamps to the car battery, then immediately connect the AC power cord. The LED should light up red.
What kind of batteries do Nature's Generators use and why?
Nature’s Generator uses sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries due to their safety, affordability, proven longevity, and ability to daisy-chain power pods to expand your system—features not available with other technologies.
How long does the charge last?
It’s recommended to fully charge Nature’s Generator once every four months.
What should I do if the battery is completely depleted?
Use regular jump cables or purchase the proprietary jumper cable. For regular cables, remove bolts to open the top case and connect the battery to a car battery like jump-starting a car. For proprietary cables, connect the gray Anderson connector to the expansion port and clamps to the car battery. After connection, the LCD display will light up, allowing charging by solar panel or wall.
What is the best way to maintain the battery?
Charge the Nature’s Generator for at least 24 hours on first use. When not in use, charge to 100% before storage and recharge at least once every four months to keep the battery active and performing optimally.
What is the typical lifespan of the sealed lead-acid battery?
SLA batteries typically last between 500 and 800 full charge cycles.
How easy is it to replace my battery?
Battery replacement is simple: remove a few bolts, open the top case, and swap the battery. The battery is easily accessible. For details, please refer to the replacement battery information.
Can Nature's Generators be expanded?
Yes. You can expand your system by connecting Nature’s Generator Power Pods or Power Pod Elites, each providing an additional 100Ah (1200Wh) battery capacity.
How many Power Pods can be connected?
You can chain unlimited Power Pods, each with an expansion port to connect more pods. Each pod also has a solar input port for adding additional Nature’s Generator Power Panels to speed recharge.
How much run time does one Power Pod add?
Each Power Pod adds 167% run time to the Nature’s Generator; two pods add 334%, and so forth. For the Elite version, one pod adds 200%, two add 300%, etc.
How can I charge Power Pods?
Power Pods include solar charge controllers (200A for Power Pod, 300A for Power Pod Elite). They can be charged via Nature’s Generator Power Panels or by the Nature’s Generator charger. You may also buy a separate charger/maintainer for independent charging.
How do I know when Power Pods are fully charged?
Press the battery level button with nothing attached. All 5 LEDs lighting indicates full charge; each LED represents 20% charge.
How can I check Power Pod battery levels?
Press and hold the battery button on the Power Pod to view the current battery level.
Where should I place Power Pods?
Power Pods are designed to sit securely on top of the Nature’s Generator. Hardware and brackets are included for attaching pods to the Heavy Duty Cart.
How do I transport Power Pods?
We recommend placing Power Pods on top of the Nature’s Generator. The Heavy Duty Cart is strong enough to move both together.
How long will it take to recharge my Nature’s Generator with solar panels?
Each 100W Nature’s Generator Power Panel can recharge at 100 watts under optimal sunlight. Always position panels to face the sun and avoid shade.
If I connect Power Panels and Wind Turbines simultaneously, will it overcharge?
No. Nature’s Generators have built-in charge controllers to prevent overcharging.
Can I use other manufacturers’ solar panels?
Nature’s Generator is optimized for its own 100W Power Panels. Other panels may or may not work depending on output voltage and current. Contact us for verification if using third-party panels.
How many Power Panels can I connect?
The Nature’s Generator and Power Pod can handle up to 200 watts (2 Power Panels). The Elite versions handle up to 300 watts (3 Power Panels).
Can I charge on cloudy days?
Yes, solar charging works on cloudy days due to ultraviolet light reaching the earth, though performance is reduced.
What is the cable length from Power Panel to Generator?
The included cable length is 50 feet.
Can I extend the cable length?
Yes, a separate 50-foot Power Panel Extension Cable is available, allowing up to 100 feet total length.
What are the Power Panel dimensions?
Dimensions are 33” L x 26.4” W x 1.4” H.
Can the Generator be charged by Wind Turbine and Power Panels at the same time?
Yes. Both charge simultaneously with built-in controllers preventing overcharge.
What tower is recommended for the Wind Turbine?
Use nominal 1.5 inch schedule 40 steel tubing (1.875–1.900 inch outside diameter). Avoid plastic pipes. The tower must withstand 160 pounds horizontally at the turbine.
How high should the Wind Turbine be installed?
Mount at least 20–30 feet above nearby obstructions.
What else is needed to use the Wind Turbine besides the tower?
Nothing else. The Wind Turbine is a complete system; just connect the cable to the Nature’s Generator.
What wind speed is needed for charging?
A consistent 10 mph wind is recommended. Variable wind direction or gusts may reduce power generation.
Why are there red tips on each blade?
For safety. Red tips warn users of rotating blades to prevent accidents.
